I see the sea of graves and I am speechless.

I have to admit I have been slacking in this area since I was young, mostly I think because my parents were so determined to take care of the family graves, we would help in their later years, but they still were “in charge”. They are now gone so it falls to me and my siblings.

My maternal grandfather served in WW1 and my paternal great grandfather served in the Civil War, 13th WI INF Co1. It took me a while but I managed to find his grave (I hadn’t been to his grave in some time). My wife and I placed an American flag at his and my grandfather’s grave, we also said a prayer at each. I will be repeating this until it is the next generation’s turn to take over, it is important they are not forgotten. Wreaths will be coming for Veterans Day.

Have a great Memorial Day.
