Dimple Error

Building the RV7 fuel tank, I countersunk the drain valve (normal!) but made the error of dimpling the tank skin (not required and not normal!). Can the skin be left as is or will it cause any sealing problems? As usual, all suggestions much appreciated.

You can flatten out the dimple with a flush set.

I'm back in UK mid-September if you get some time to visit Kemble!

If it were mine I would simply do as Paul suggested and flatten out those dimples with a flat set. Honestly the drain is not an area where people have a lot of leaks -- unless it's the petcock/seal. It's usually inboard or outboard on the corners or where the rear baffle meets the top and bottom skins.

If it *does* leak at the drain it's a relatively easy fix...pull the tank, pull the inboard access panel (you are putting one in, right?) and you have easy access. Yeah, it's a pain, but there are much worst places to get a leak.
