LED Beacon light in place of LED Strobes?

So I already built homemade LED nav lights and didn't see an LED Strobe only option at Oshkosh. I was thinking of using a LED Beacon light on the tail in lieu of LED strobes. Has anyone else done this already? It would mean modifying the tip of the vertical stabilzer a bit, but I think that would doable.

Has anyone else looked into already or done something similar?

Close to hanging an engine!

I think doable, but a few downsides to consider:

A (legal) 400 candella light is pretty bright when mounted high and essentially right above your head; it's going to require some pretty careful masking to keep the light off the prop. Also, there are going to be some significant areas of blockage (from the ship) from some angles. It might be legal, but not ideal. Add to that the masking required to keep off the prop, and you will be essentially "dark" to aircraft out in front of you, with the blind spot increasing in size with distance. Finally, it's likely to be more draggy than an enclosed wing tip install.
