Tail dragger dragger recommendations?

Rick RV-4

Thinking of getting a tail dragger “dragger”of some sort to help get my RV-4 back into the hangar after flying. Any recs on a good model to buy? Aircraft Spruce had two models, and of course the more expensive one gets better reviews, but was wondering if there are any real world results out there.

I tried a couple of under the tire types - all let the tail wheel pop out.

Tom Doran (RV-8A driver) made up a couple of spacers to extend the tail wheel bolt, about 3/8” on each side (you will need to replace the bolt with a longer one). The one under the bolt head is the same diameter that fits a standard RV nose gear tow bar. The other side of the wheel (the part under the castle nut) is 3/4” diameter. The tow bar socket on that side is replaced with a socket big enough to slide over the castle nut and 3/4” spacer.

This setup is very secure.

The second photo shows the simple mod to a nose gear Boogie Bar - and swapping out the left socket with the original it still works on a nose gear RV. Tom made a travel bar for me - works the same way but much lighter and smaller.

I've got the bogert - works ok, and good quality. The pip pin is getting loose - might need to deal with that but otherwise happy with it.

I bought this one a little over a year ago for my RV4 with the old fashioned bent-type tail stinger that doesn’t fully swivel (can’t be pushed backwards into the hangar). At that time it was $73.95. I modified it with a slightly shorter spring from Home Depot for a snug fit over the stock axle bolt, and I wrapped the removable handle with a few wraps of tape to make it fit more tightly when in use. It weighs under 4 lbs. for travel considerations. I use it every time I fly to pull (or push) the airplane around, and works fine with the stock axle bolt. A little longer bolt with spacers would be a little more secure, but I’ve never had mine slip off in the stock configuration.

I also have the “taildragger dragger” that I will sell for a good price if anyone is interested. I’ve never liked it.

With a full swivel tailwheel I just sling a rope around it and pull. I stole the idea from another 4 driver on here. It's surprisingly easy to control.
