I was astonished. This world-class WWII aviation museum opened in 2012, about a 45 minute flight from here. I had no idea it even existed, let alone the amazing quality of it. They have a full-on restoration shop, and everything from a Normandy glider, various trainers, several fighters, and a B25. Everything in the inventory flies except for the ME-109, the glider, and one of the P40s which is back in the restoration shop. It's a family-run organization. I was chatting with one of the Fagens, and she mentioned to me that they had just closed a deal on a flying Japanese Zero, to be delivered about now. Pre-covid, they did a warbird airshow every summer and will resume in 2022. They have numerous full-scale dioramas, and the attention to detail in all the displays is meticulous, right down to the Higgins boat with emerging soldiers. The sand in the display is actual sand from Utah beach (Ray Fagen was in that D-Day fight).

Here's the aircraft inventory.. http://www.fagenfighterswwiimuseum.org/aircraft/aircraft.html ..I note that it doesn't list the ME-109, the Zero, or the Hellcat.

KGDB is a a little airport, 4300 ft, in the middle of a cornfield south of Granite Falls, MN. The museum hangars are by far the dominant player.

If you have any interest in WWII aviation...this place has got to be somewhere on your must-see list.
