10-05 17/64" System hole

I don't have a 17/64" drill bit (HomeDepot up the road has one), but I've never needed one, and I'm very curious why the -14 seems to have this different, weird hole size.

I've match drilled the #30, and the hole comes out on the upper VS-410PP Hinge Bracket. Searching through the digital plans, it looks like it's the system hole referenced in the OP-56 Tail Lighting section, and this makes complete sense. What doesn't make sense is that every other model (except the -12) calls for a 1/4" hole to be drilled vs. a 17/64" hole to be drilled.

I'm going to drill it to 1/4" so I can "build on" since upgrading the hole later to 17/64" can be done fairly trivially (I think the F-01412D tie down bracket will be out of the way).

All that aside, does anyone know why this hole would be 1/64" larger than the other models?

Yes, the shielded 3-wire (L1082) goes through there. It’s possible you need a little extra clearance to get it through? You eventually put a blob of RTV or equivalent around the wire to keep it there. See page 11-10.

I tried to make sure only sealant was touching the outer cover or the wire so it wouldn’t ever chafe against the edge of the hole. Sounds like me anyways :)
