Steve,
how about an insert to close up the space created by the angled control panel on the HDX

step 1. make a RV8 skin.

actually that is step 2.. step 1 was to run 4 miles.

step 2. make a GA35 pattern and place on RV8 skin.

step 3. extrude GA35 pattern to skin.

placement of the GA35 antenna leading edge on the skin is 6 inch aft of bulkhead and the GA35 antenna centerline is 3 inches from fuse centerline on the pilots side. I didn't know the best placement so I just put it there for now to do a fit check. the first print didn't include edge radius and it was a quick print. I usually insist all bolted flanges are parallel for structural integrity but in this case the wedge angle is low and the clamp is low and there are four bolts so it will be fine.... it's not structural.

we could also make a complementary interior piece to allow the nuts to be parallel to the bolt heads. that would be a good thing.

Default RV8 GA35 antenna aft fuse mount

with interior piece for bolting parallel surfaces. I don't believe an alum doubler is needed for this small antenna. drill the skin, bolt it up and you're done. when you drill the skin, firstly mark the hole center with the plastic boss and then drill perpendicular to the skin. otherwise the hole center will slide.

Default Aileron Gust Lock

several of these are being shipped as of late so beware that they can and will kill you if you do not remove them before flight.

1. the aileron gust lock is only required on one side to secure both ailerons. put it on the pilot side and attach a streamer to it so you will see it.
2. have a place to store the gusts locks in the aircraft to be sure you have everything accounted for a flight worthy aircraft.
3. get in a habit of moving the controls to full motion when you do a preflight inspection.
4. follow your preflight checklist every time and do a control freedom check.
5. be fully alert when you fly... not sick, tired, or anxious.

that is all.

Default Bicycle

When your wife hasn't ridden her bike in 10 years but has a strong emotional attachment and says she made ride it any day now so it needs to have quick access....and you are trying to declutter, what to do? a very smooth ball bearing pully. it's important to keep the Ladies happy.

Walt, tell me your preferred location and I will adjust the model to that exact location. give me some dimensions to lock in the perfect position for these. I'll send you a couple these evaluation. no cost. Steve

I saw a photo on the web of this one and understood the problem. gap on one side. difficult to bolt up. probable paint damage over time.

It would be really nice to have threaded inserts built into the inner piece.
