Steve, what is the span for the beam and what size did you use? Looks like it will be a nice place to put all the crapola you probably dont need but your wife insists on keeping!!

you got that right. total length of the fwd beam is 247 inches, 12 inch LVL, modulus 1.9, doubled. the aft beam is a single because there are 3 posts on that span. I can send you the plans I made and most important the bracket outline for the base of the fwd posts. before I send any plans I should wait until it is finished and then I can let you know what I don't like about it.

Default upstairs - it's warm up there

plywood.... need to add a hammock up there. the loft is solid. very nice.

100K LED lumen total lights to be added underneath. storage shelves are going to be wacked off and put up there.

I'm thinking about racedeck tile flooring for that space, or maybe Nitro-Flex tiles.

the loft is full floating. nothing screwed into the spanning support beams to constrain them. not even the plywood.

everything is lining up well. plywood is fully supported at the seams.

Default Shelves floor coaster

I've been sliding my shelves around while working on the loft. the soft rubber coasters have failed and it's difficult to slide them around so I'm trying to print something better from hard plastic that has a base.

Default wall washers lights?

evaluating the wall washer light, 36W. I like it. rotate up or down. I will change to 72W and install on both sides of the hangar. the "pebble cream" pywood wall, who comes up with these names, took me two days to get it straight. I became interested in "french cleat" vs pegboard (hooks always fall off) so I wanted the wall to be perfectly straight and supported from the floor. on the third attempt I managed to do it. I'm ready for some light (I'm going to blow the doors off with light) and electrical is next and then Spring cleaning. I've decided on 1/ 1/4 inch conduit railing for the loft that will also function as a curtain rod. Flex Nitro coin flooring sample arrived, I'm thinking tan and white checker board floor for this small space. for now, it's still a big mess.

**

the loft has a slight purpose built slope of 1/4" over 10 ft towards the aft wall. things will tend to roll towards the aft wall if they are loose. I'll show that in the future with a water test.

Default failure - oil cup snap on

I suffered a failure of an snap on oil cup drain from a customer. this part failed after several uses. the material is ASA. cause is yet unknow, cold weather, oil embrittlement, other? a PETG material version is out for testing. PETG is very chemical resistant and has added flex capability but is susceptible to UV light. in this case UV light should not be a concern. I do appreciate any feedback and try to take some action.

Default 747 Captains stopped by

to look at the free floating loft... and I was asleep in my hammock... upstairs.. it's warm up there, hanging in the rafters like a monkey. I recommend the Brazilian hammock style if you want to be wrapped like a burrito.

some progress... but as Marie Kondo says, it will get worse before it gets better.. many lights will be arriving soon. the shop air filter arrived.

declutter your life advocate. she is hot!

does this 1/2 sheet of sandpaper bring me joy? well, it could.... I should keep that.

Default declutter step

I almost have 3 bare walls in my decluttering effort in this space. decluttering is hard for me but I'm getting better. the shop filter helps clear the dust (I wish I had one of these years ago). the metal walls are wiped with 50/50 alcohol water. the hammock chair arrived... to be retractable.
