Your NAV antenna generally requires horizontal alignment, not vertical. I would thing that the vertical stab would be a bad place to put one.
A good choice is to put in an Archer NAV antenna in the bottom of one of your wing tips. It's not out in the slipstream and mine works great.

We installed ours (V-Antenna) on top of the vert stab. You have to cut the fiberglass cap of the vert stab because the dia of the ant base is wider than the cap. Causes some extra drag. But I want good reception. Working on the #### canopy.

VOR/LOC/GS antenna
A similar thread was started in the RV-7 area titled VOR/LOC/GS antenna . There are a few pictures showing installations in the top of the VS and below HS on the belly.
