Anyone building in Louisville?

Hey folks. As a new hire SO with UPS, I spend A LOT of time on reserve in Louisville. I rarely get called to fly.

I was wondering if anyone is building any model RV in Louisville? I?d like to build an RV8 at some point and I have a lot of time to kill while I?m in SDF (I live in NYC). I?d be more than happy to offer an extra set of hands and would love the opportunity to gain some first hand experience.

If anyone is interested, please let me know!

Brad

Hi Brad,

Look up Ralph at LOU. On a trip there a few weeks ago I called Flight Service for a briefing back to Houston and told him my a/c type, he replied with something like "the -8A with the canopy cover on the ramp. You're talking to a -6 builder and I'm off in 45 minutes... mind if I go look at your plane?" We talked for a while about both of our projects during the briefing and he sounded like a great guy, and must be good at what he does because he was at OSH as a FSS specialist this year.

Good luck with your -8.

Great Jeff...thanks for the info. Finishing your airplane before you?re even out of your 20's is an amazing accomplishment!

I've enjoyed reading your builders log by the way. I showed my GF pictures of your wife working with you to ?test the waters.? She didn?t seem too interested. Guess I?ll have to look elsewhere for a bucking partner :)

Yes, it definitely helps the project progress when you have the support (and help) of the people around you. I started the plane before I moved to Texas and met Diana, and she still married me. I still get a hard time about the plane moving in before her though.... when we hung the engine, the tail had to come into the house to make room for the hoist at the front end of the garage.

Once the plane is done though, you're work has only begun my friend. I'm sure like many flying before me, there was a list of things to do about 2 years long waiting for me at the end of the project. Example: That ugly wallpaper and tile you see in the picture above has since been removed, new sheetrock has been installed, and I'm going to be up late painting tonight. :)
