Lycoming IO360-M1B firewall penetrations

I have a Lycoming IO360-M1B Fuel Injected engine with standard mags on order with Van's and due for delivery around the end of the year.

I'm at the stage where I want start drilling the firewall penetrations for the control cables. Are these locations correct for the M1B engine?

Also, the access plate is missing a hole for the Fuel Injected Throttle. It is marked a 'I' on the drawing above but it's not on the access plate detail drawing...

I have transposed the hole from the firewall drawing to the cover. Will this work?

Thank you.

Yes the plans are pretty good in this regard. However, for the fuel line hole I strongly recommend moving it 1/4-1/2" inboard of where their hole is as it will be really close to the starter terminal if you don't.

For the cover plate I waited until all of my cables were being installed and then I eye balled where the holes should be. You may want to do the same as the cables will be sloped upwards and not perfectly inline with the firewall holes.

I agree with the above, the stock location for the fuel line is a bit too close to the starter contactor for my taste.

With the same engine/airframe combination as you've got, I ended up moving my prop cable 1 3/4" outboard to clear my parking brake valve. That ended up being a helpful change, as it somewhat lessened the sharp bend required in the cable. Note that if you do this, you may need a custom-length cable... I wasn't bothered by this since my throttle quadrant required custom cables anyway.

While you're at it, consider where you will put the cable for your alternate air control, if you plan to install one. I was able to do this after the engine was installed, but these photos might give you some ideas for things to do now:

Thank you both for confirming. It's scary stuff having so many options to pick there.

Thanks for the tip on the fuel line and Alternate Air. I've written it on the firewall and on the plans so I don't forget.
