Default WTB Plane Power Alt Connector

For some reason, I am not able to find a connector for a Plane Power alternator.

Allen at Hartzell said he'd send one, but no joy after a few conversations.

I cannot find a part number to save my life.

Maybe someone out there in van-o-sphere can give me a vector.

Since it's a knockoff of a Denso design, just search for a Denso alternator connector. Here are a couple:

And if you don't have/want to get a good crimper, you can fake it with a pigtail attached: https://www.amazon.com/Alternator-Re.../dp/B014GMVRZO

...and make sure to use the little rubber boots on the wires.

One is prewired, one is just terminals.

If you go to Autozone or Orielly's get the smartest employee there (sigh) and explain it is for an early 90's Nissan 300Z. But take your old plug with you or a photo if you can. We just did this and bought the pigtail version and spliced the wires (you have to combine two of them in a Y to replace the original jumper). PP didn't install the silicon strain relieve boots originally and so the original contacts fatigued and broke.

Hartzell gave me P/N 11-1010

Spruce has it as 1010S. I'd be careful, there might be a difference between the internally regulated alternates and the external ones?

Plane Power/Hartzell: $116. Autozone $20. Both with pigtails. The one from Autozone has silicon strain relief. Plane Power original didn't, leading to failure.

These plugs are only for internally requlated Japanese automotive alternators, which Plane Power rebrands. If if there were worries about internal or external regualtors you are just replacing a plug and as long as you keep the wires straight no problem either way.

Thanks Jim. That should do the trick.

I went to the local ‘auto electric’ shop, he said it could be one of three choices on a Denso alternator, he had a bin full of each.

Not so sure about that. The externally regulated has 2 wires, pin 2 is jumped over to pin 3. Same connector.

The internally regulated alternator seems to have one wire, I have not found a decent drawing showing which pin this is connected to. I assume the field, pin 2, but would like to verify.
