Jeff,

OK you threw down the gauntlet so we want to see some pictures! Always looking for nice paint jobs and interior details to get ideas

I didn't intend to insult another guy's airplane, just that a few of the specs that I went with cost me a bit more than than the one in that particular ad. For example, GTN650/dual comms/audio panel, Titan IO370 (208HP on the dyno), WW constant speed prop, full interior. I hope he gets close to his asking price, a rising tide floats all boats.

The link got removed, but one of the comments said a quarter million dollars?

I get that everybody is used to RV7's being half that, but gosh, The cost of my project has almost doubled since I started building.

If I were starting today instead of 4 years ago, I'd have to seriously think about whether I could justify tying up that kind of cash in a 2 seat airplane vs just buying a nice old Bonanza or 182

If I were to buy everything thats currently in my RV7 project today, the breakdown would look like this:

Airframe $33k
Engine $62k
Avionics. $48k
Prop $12.5K
FWF. $6k

Thats $160,000 just in parts and doesn't even include paint and interior.

When you really start to look at what airplane parts cost today, $250k doesn't seem outlandish. Heck, if I decide to sell this plane after a few years, I'll likely be asking that much...

Default FS RV7 Project

It makes me feel better, but still has not resulted in any serious lookers for my RV7 project that is 90% completed. It is posted here on VAF. (FS RV7 project) The market is weird for RV people as so many of us were used to them being so much less in cost. I remain optimistic I will find the right buyer, but it has been much more challenging than I thought it would be for a project of this caliber.

Ditto for my airframe-only RV-7 project, just past QB stage..

Biggest issue this gentleman has is he is very close to ask on several brand new RV-14s. If I were to decide to spend his current $224K on an RV-7, I might very easily decide that I can probably find an RV-14 with more elbow room, higher performance engine, etc... (could be a plus or a minus, depending on perspective), for the same price.
