Upper Wing Fairings - RV-10

The upper wing/fuselage fairings on the -10 have angle stiffeners and support along both edges. Does that make them part of the wing walk? In other words, can you step/stand on them?

Structurally, I can't see why you'd design them the way they are unless they were designed for foot traffic, but I've yet to find a reference from the factory on the issue.

Yes. If you buy the wing-walk material from Vans it has a piece for the fairing.

The RV10 that Van's takes to OSH every year has non-skid material on the wing root fairing.

Also, the non-skid material that Van's sells for the 10 comes in two parts specifically so that you can put a strip on the wing root fairing.

"RV-10 have Left and Right sets in two parts. One for the wing skin, and a narrow part inboard to attach to the wing root fairing."
