Back rivet work bench- pics

Here is the back rivet work bench that I built - note it has rubber pads mounted to the bottom of the legs.

O.K., now add lines to the table top, extending along each side of the plate.

You will end up with a big # looking setup.

Now when you are riveting, you can visualize where the plate is.

An overhead projector, casting an image of the back rivet plate seems like a much easier solution. Why make it complicated?:D

If I can make a suggestion. I would throw a piece of plastic laminate (Formica) on that piece of ply. Better would be to remake the top out of particle board with laminate on that. When you're working you'll want a flat easily cleaned surface. Chances are you'll be removing a few rivets and the chips left behind are going to be a real pain to brush off the bare ply. Anything like chips can put some vicious scratches in your surfaces.
