Brake Flange ? Hole Pattern

Well Known Member
I am looking for the dimensions of the standard hole pattern for the Cleveland brake flange on an RV-4. I was not able to find it on the Vans drawings, nor in a Cleveland documentation. Does anybody know the exact dimensions or where to find it?

Dimensions

The Grove catalog shows:

A) 1.370"

B) 1.370"

D) 1.938"

HFS

Updated information: The above information was taken from Van's Dwg. 38 from 1985 for S/N 1136. P/N U-403 "Brake Mt. Flange" shows four (4) equally spaced holes (90* offset) x 1/4" diameter.

Information taken from Van's Dwg. 38 from 1993 for S/N 3392, Revision 7 (1/92) for P/N U-403 "Brake Mt. Flange" shows 4 x 1/4" holes, on a 1 15/16" diameter circle, with the narrow hole pattern at a 29* offset from the Center Line (or 58* degrees from each other). Yielding dimensions of: .938 between narrow holes, and 1.688 between wide holes, on a 1 15/16" diameter circle.

Thanks. But what I see on the Cleveland and Vans flange is more something like a=15/16. I think the Diameter D could be 1 15/16.

Yes, I am pretty confident with the Diameter D being 1.938" resp. 1 15/16".
But the Cleveland brake flanges that I have, a is not even to b. And I am a bit surprised I cannot find those dimensions although those seem to be some kind of "standard".

That is the same as a 1 15/16 bolt circle with 6 evenly spaced holes, 60° apart.
But it's missing two holes.
So A is .96875 (31/32) and B is 1.67792 (1 43/64).

The dimensions from Grove is for four holes 90° apart.
