Hey All,
I rarely get the opportunity to do this, so I'm pretty happy about it. The story didn't start out so good... I thought I smelled a big bill coming my way. Last week I experienced a kickback while starting the plane. On the second try at starting, the starter made an unhappy noise, but started the plane. I pulled the cowl when I got home and found that the starter gear and ring gear were fine. Hmmm, inside the starter then, oh boy. I pulled the starter and disassembled it and found the (driven) jackshaft gear was missing a tooth. I called Sky-tec and even after 3 years they handled it via warranty. Seth said the the pin should have sheared, but since it didn't they were going to take care of it! In a world where you usually only get lip service, this was very welcome. Hats off to Seth and Sky-tec!
