Default Bottom fuselage/flap wear on RV-9

On the 9, the bottom fuselage skin has a little section of the skin that acts as a fairing that interfaces with the flap as it goes up and down. That section of skin is wearing on the inboard, bottom of my flap. This is shown in the attached picture. You can see where the paint has been rubbed off the flap.

What did you do to prevent this wear?

Mine looks like ****. It was bent a couple times during construction. I considered just cutting it off! I was able to get it reasonable looking but not as good as yours is. A little tape will fix that or maybe a slight bend so it doesnt rub. If it still rubs it could bunch up the tape so consider that. Or just a dab of new paint every year at inspection.
