Nice Work!

Now that's what I'm talking about! Great looking tank for the fuselage. Is it double-walled construction? How much does the fuse tank weigh empty? I'm very excited for you. I am way behind in my build, but hope to follow in your footsteps one day!

Another way to skin the cat...

Bruce,

My good friend Steve Saint built his prototype Vision Ten with another set of the standard RV-10 fuel tanks outboard of the stock tanks on the wing leading edge. This makes the total FOB 120 gallons, all forward of the spar, easily plumbed, no issues.
Last summer we all launched for Oshkosh from FL, Steve flew non-stop from X-35 to Rhinelander WI, landed, then flew back down to OSH. Stayed a week, then flew to MSP before considering adding fuel. He has also flown it from Ecuador to FL several times, Non-stop.

1700NM IFR range at 15,500' is pretty impressive considering all 4 seats are still available and no CG issues. :)

PS: For more amazing pond crossing data, Max Conrad still holds most of the distance records for Class C-1C/D lightplanes, mostly single and twin Comanches. His book "The flying Grandpa" should be in everybody's bookcase.

FAI certified world records

Conrad set nine official aviation world records (as recognized by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale or FAI, the aviation world record adjudicating body).[3]

Jon Johansen's exploits are also noteworthy: http://www.vansaircraft.com/public/jj-plane.htm

PSS: Having crossed both iceberg filled "ponds" in a single engine multiple times, make sure you have good contingency plans. The old quote is true, "if something can go wrong it will, at the most inopportune time"
