For those of you who have raced, how does your flat out max speed compare with the race results?

For example, and to better illustrate my question, let?s suppose my RV-3 is capable of 193 knots true airspeed at 8,000? density altitude. My power settings at this pace are about 23.5? Mp and 2650 rpm. If I ran these power settings during an SARL race, what speed would I be showing in race results (assuming zero wind).

I?m asking because I know there are turns and I?m assuming other factors which would reduce the posted speed from the max speed an AC is capable of. I?m trying to estimate where I?d fall in the standings if I ever get to a race.

FWIW, I?m pretty sure I?d be in the RV Red class with my IO320.

I’m averaging between 203 and 204 with my O-320 RV-4. FP Warnke Prop (68x74) spinning 2700-2800 rpm.

I'd like to take part in SARL but the the way they split up the classes by engine displacement instead of HP would mean I'd have no real chance since I have a IOX-370 with 8.3 pistons with 190 HP. I'd be in the RV Gold class competing with some real speedsters. Still, it would be fun to experience it.
