remove the drive gear

Hello,
I am replacing my RH mag with an EMag. I am struggling to loosen the castle nut of my old mag (in order to get the drive gear out). The strap wrench is not strong enough and it slides. I do not want to put it in a vice (or should I?). Any trick?
Thanks a lot for help
Olivier

A vice will work , but be sure and place some soft wooden blocks each side so that the vice does not contact the metal gear teeth.

Thank you Dennis. And while you're here: Emag manual says "no need for shielded p-lead, so keep it clear from connections". Mine from my old mag is shielded...no harm in using as is, isn't it?
Thanks again

Drive Gear Removal

I have always held the gear with my hand and used an impact wrench on the nut.

I would think a shielded p wire would be ok, the p leads have been that way for years.
but not familiar with E mag instructions. Some heat shrink might be in order to keep it from the the main wire.
