FAA airport database

Can anyone point me to where I can download a database of public and private airports with their respective ICAO codes and long/lat coordinates? I've come up empty with Google. I'm inclined to think this is in the public domain but I have yet to find it.

Airnav.com

Have you tried <airnav.com>?
Or are you looking for something else?

Try this.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_airports_in_the_United_States

Bob,

Not sure if this fills the bill, but perhaps worth a look and some fiddlin' with. Its called The Global Airport Database. Looks like a downloadable database as well as a parser. Home page describes content and compatability. Haven't played with it, but did download it, and it didn't spike my antivirus "RHAW gear". ;)

Cheers,
Bob

List of Navaids with ID and Lat/Long

Ok, this was exactly what I was looking for also, Thanks.

Now, can anyone point me in the right direction for the same type of list for all the navaids (VOR's, NDB's, and intersections) for the US with ID and Lat/Long. I am sure it's out there from the FAA Somewhere---just haven't found it yet.

Thanks
Paul

navaid.com

It can generate whatever you want. I used it to download waypoints for all the airports, VOR's, etc for my state and nearby portions of adjacent states. I imported them into Garmin's MapSource to use with Garmin Topo USA 2008 maps for my flight planning. It works pretty well.

I've also transfered them into a Garmin eTrex Vista CX handheld GPS for backup navigation during flight. One nice thing about the system is than I can download a route (flight plan) directly from MapSource into the handheld GPS. It's also nice that I can use MapSource to view an elevation profile of my route and plan my altitude for each leg of the flight so that I have adequate terrain clearance over or around the mountains and ridges.

Paul - try the X-Plane data files. They may require a bit of parsing for the airports, but the navaids should be easy to load:

http://data.x-plane.com/get_data.html

Navaids are in earth_nav.dat or nav.dat (depends on version)
Airports are in apt.dat

Although the X-Plane data files and the navaid.com look like the data I need and may work for testing, I really want to find the "Official" Data source these sites are getting this data from.

Thanks, Still hunting

Contact Robin Peel at robin(at)xsquawkbox<dot>net to see where he gets his data from. It is usually updated on a quarterly(ish) basis.

Digital Obstacle File: http://aeronav.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=aeronav/applications/digital/dof

Looks like there was a digital navaid file once available (http://avn.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=aeronav/products/digital/navaid)- but it's moved to FADDS (http://avn.faa.gov/content/aeronav/applications/digital/pdf_files/Public_NAVAID_Letter.pdf) and apparently now only available within the FAA (https://nfdc.faa.gov/fadds/). I'm trying to find out if it is still freely available to the public.

Yep, thats it. FADDS - Facility Aeronautical Data Distribution System
offers a 56 Day NASR Subscription download that will overwhelm you with data!

It is not anything easy like the excel airports spreadsheet link but it has everything you would possably want for navigation purposes.

Thanks for the help
