Engine Mount

My new RV-4 dynafocal engine mount and gear legs finally arrived. That’s the good news . The bad news is that it is all raw steel. Nothing has been powder coated. Is this normal or has there been some kind of mistake? I have an email out to Vans but it takes days for them to respond so I am hoping for some insight here.

Thank you,
Tom

Possibly that is for the RV4 but for other RVs they come powder coated.

Our -3 motor mount came bare a decade ago, and when I stripped our -6 mount last year, it was clearly never powder coated....but it’s serial number 4, back before powder coating was invented.....

Bottom line is I think the older designs weren’t powder coated, the newer ones are.

This is an opportunity for you to paint it instead of powder coating it. Since the -4 engine mount design is prone to cracking (when, not if) paint makes it easier to detect and address before the mount breaks while powder coating can hide it.
