Lycoming oil filter base assy gasket

Hi Guys,

I'm about to install an oil filter base assembly on my i0-320 and the Lycoming manual picture shows one oil filter adaptor gasket (LW-12795) but the quantity per assembly has 2 needed. My gasket kit has two of them. Do I really need to pancake two gaskets or just use one?

My parts manual only shows one gasket, but some other Lycoming engines have an adapter plate/spacer and do take two gaskets.

Is your gasket kit a universal one for more than one engine?

SSP-885-2 gives conversion details for adding a spin-on oil filter, and only mentions two of the gaskets for an O-235 engine.

I've been looking at the link below which shows what I'm wondering about. Yup, I got a universal kit with numerous gaskets that will be left over.

I have a PDF copy of the newest [revision 2, circa 2003 versus old revision 1, circa 1988] version of SSP-885-2 if anyone wants it. Just contact me via email or PM. I can not find this document online.
