I’m trying to install a new stater solenoid on a Lycoming LS starter that came on my IO-390. Seems like a simple job but after disconnecting the three wires and removing the two mounting screws the solenoid does not want to release from the starter body. I can slide it back but then the plastic pin on the front is getting hung up on something inside. Is there a trick or doesn’t it sound like something may be broken inside?
Got it. The starter needs to come off to you can pull the solenoid at an angle.
