trim tab

Question about location of trim tab.

My trim tab is located too far back. If I extend the line from the trailing edge of the elevator, that's supposed to be exactly in line with trailing edge of the trim tab. My trim tab is sitting 0.15" back from that.

I think this is due to leaving a slight gap on the hinge on the elevator.

Should I leave it as is, or drill out the hinge and replace with new to relocate?

It all depends on your level of OCD. It wont effect the flying characteristics

I'm only concerned about safety and flight characteristics.

I think you'll find you never leave it lined up with the elevator anyways, so nobody is likely to notice. My take-off trim position is with the tab 1/2" or so up, and I usually set it there as part of my shut-down checklist when I park the plane.
