engine removal

i have been thinking about all the wires to be disconnected in the removal of a fuel injected, ecu powered engine. most of the wires are in a bundle from the ecu. has anyone run all these wires thru one ''plug and play'' connector?
i know a d sub could handle it all if 2 pins were used for some hi current wires but is there something better, more robust out there?

Having recently removed an engine from an RV-9A, I can relate to your question. I believe the argument against a big d sub connector would be the introduction of another potential point of failure for each circuit, especially if located in the engine compartment. Also, the thermocouple leads have to be special wire and can only be spliced in a specific way. It is really not that hard to remove the leads from the engine. Just remember to label them!
