Rudder TE

There was an accident in Canada where an rv in formation exceeded vne. A contributing factor was that the rudder was found to have unzipped at the trailing edge. This led to catastrophic failure of the rudder and vs.

I would higly recommend that the trailing edge be bonded with proseal according to van's recommendations. The pillowing you show leads me to believe that this was not done.

Don't panic... Seek local assistance with deriveting the trailing edge. If you have any doubts, a new rudder skin is cheap.

Just my opinion...

Spend some time looking at some other flying rvs before trashing it. You will get an idea of where you stand skill-wise, and develop a sense of what you can live with (especially when you see them fly!). You can always come back to the rudder later.
