ATS vs. Champion spark plug thread chaser?

Keep in mind that the standard plug hole contains a heli-coil. I attempted using the ATS chaser without luck and had to replace the heli-coil.

I have been using the first one ($9) for over 12 years with great success. I can not imagine $425 for a spark plug hole cleaner.

I admit, that any chasing is a risk, and that the ATS style tool may take some torque to release the debris, but are you saying the expensive tool would not have done this? It would seem that either could have this result if cleaning has been delayed for a long time. The coils can come out with a stuck plug too.

Just for this reason it seems prudent to clean the threads any time the plugs are out and can not be reinstalled to the gasket with fingers.
