Take a piece of that soft stuff and you can crush the angle in your hand. Do use some, but not for this piece. Order some extra angle in various sizes for the project. Check Vans List and pieces by part number are cheaper than cut to specific length.

No harm done, and my plane is 0.5grams lighter because it is missing the tiny bit in the middle of the two pieces of angle!
