Angel flight with Melinda

Today we flew an angel flight from LaGrange GA to Winston Salem NC in our rv-10. Our passenger was Melinda who was headed to Boston for her second surgery there. At KINT we met with Richard Howell who was the second leg pilot. He flew Melinda up to Harrisburg, PA in his cessna 210. A third pilot flew the last leg to Norwood, MA.
As a reminder, Angel Flight of Georgia http://www.angelflightsoars.org/index.htm
does allow Experimentals (must be IFR equipped), so for those of you who are equipped and have the time, it really is wonderful to share our airplanes with those who are in need of transportation.

I'm a mission pilot for Angel Flight West, and we're not allowed to fly experimentals. Is this a new policy change for your wing or has it been in effect for a while? We've been lobbying for this out here in California for a while.

I've been doing it for a number of years now, since before Katrina.

I just checked with Oklahoma and they don't allow Experimental AC either. Oh well

I have been trying here in NM as well. It might be worth a call to Angel Flight in Georgia to see what was involved to use experimental aircraft. Maybe all it takes is one group to allow it, and the others will follow...?

Even with the equipment and the rating, not all wings allow experimentals...
