Just replaced those cute little plastic inserts in the carb throttle arm where the springs attach. See parts 74 and 73 in the first pic.:p 788 hours on each one.

Part number 73. Old and new. Part 74 is shown in the upper right corner.

Part 74 on the Left. Can't show you the old part 74, because both were destroyed upon removal. Part 73 on the right, new and old.

A few Maintenance items install. Part 2!

Both plastic parts were replaced with the carbs installed on the engine. The old upper part was removed by cutting it off with an x-acto knife, then simply squeeze the new one in place with pliers. The lower ones were a bit more of a challenge. On the left carb I used an "L" shaped scribe to insert the part into the hole.

The right carb was the hardest so I improvised.;) I use a twisty tie to hold it in place and then wedged it in with the L shaped scribe.

Removal of carb from 912 question

Hello John, thanks for posting these pictures - I'm about to tackle removal of my carbs for the 200h inspection so this is timely. Will likely send them to Lockwood to be fully disassembled and inspected.

Question (for you or anyone else who has done this previously) I'd like to avoid removing the throttle cable retaining nut if possible, and was thinking of removing the throttle arm itself from the carb (ie remove the nuts labeled 71 in the diagram) along with the choke hardware ... in order to remove the carbs from the engine. Assume removing and reattaching the retaining nut just puts more stress on the cable itself and by not removing them from the rest of the assembly would make re-balancing the carbs a little easier when they come back. Does this make sense?

John, your close up maintenance pictures are better than anything in the Rotax manuals. Many Thanks!.

ps. Wouldn't it be great to assemble a detailed "Rotax maintenance manual" which had all the great videos/pictures here on VAF. Will have to add that to my "to do" list.
