Trying to install a half raven system on an IO360 with a superior cold air sump. There's 5 fittings in the sump that look like they could all be used as return fittings. The raven kit says the return should be a downhill run with no high spots, but then supplies a 90 degree fitting that has a 3" rise on the end of it for screwing into the sump. Because I'm running a show planes oil cooler mount, the raven air/oil separator has to go on the left side of the plane, so the return lines should go on the right side.
My options I can see are as follows:
1. remove the square plug used as the drain fitting and install the return line there with the 3 inch riser. I would then use the slightly offset plug as the new drain port. This gets me maybe 1/2 - 1" on the "opposite side" of the motor for the return.
2. Remove the silver plug on the right side of the engine and return through that port without the 3 inch riser adapter supplied with the raven kit. This seems ideal as it's a continuous downward path and it's on the opposite side of the engine from the air/oil separator. Is there anything behind this silver plug that wouldnt allow me to do this?
