Preheat from bed

Have you folks heard of anyway that I can activate a preheat device in my hangar 10 miles away. The hangar has cell phone coverage, but no wifi. What I would like to do is activate it a couple hours before heading out using my cell phone.

That is an old thread, so you might find some more cost effective solutions by googling "remote power switch" or something like that.

There is a guy in my EAA chapter that developed his own line of "magic boxes" that can operate off of a land line or a track phone (cell tower service). Several guys in the chapter were used as a test bed and all of them that I talked to said it worked well. I can't speak from personal experience because I do not have one, but if I needed such a device, I would get this.

We use the Aerotherm unit in our hangar; a bit pricey but works great.
