Default RH Canopy Latch with “Almost a -14” mod

Hi
I’ve installed the “Almost a -14” mod on my RV7 with tip-up canopy. I’m wondering what people do on the RH canopy latch. I’m considering doing something similar to the LH assembly but not have it penetrate the fuse - just provide the fore and aft force to latch/unlatch. That does seem overly complex for what I need. I’d appreciate your thoughts.

I did a push/pull cable from pilot to co-pilot side. Took some tweaking but overall works well.

A fairly long one? Through the baggage compartment bulkhead?

Yes, goes back behind the baggage bulkhead panel around and forward to co-pilot side. Made some brackets for each side of the cable. A day at the hangar and it was working. That was 2 years ago.

The cable is 8' 3" long and Tankerpilot75 put pictures on this site look it up if you can find it.
I'll attach picture of what I did in the cabin. Makes a real good installation.
I took the time to look and didn't find it. I also do not seem to be able to find the supplier of the cables I got for both my RV-6A and RV-6

I did it the way he did on his RV6. Ordered the clevises and an additional torque tube from Vans. Oh and extra bushings. Mine works smooth 👍

Default Extra info

If you ever want to get into the back of your plane to do any work. You will love having the cable solution.
Remove the flap motor mount, RV-14 seat mod, and seats of course, and you have much easier access into the fuselage.
I just did a panel upgrade and added an autopilot. Installing the pitch servo was a no brainer. And wiring back there was a lot easier too.
Oh ya another benny is the easy adjustment of the latch hooks. My canopy is never coming open in flight again that is assured.

For those of you that have used cables, is there any concern that a broken cable with the canopy latched closed (in the hangar or parked on the ramp) would make the canopy impossible to open?

Default Cable breakage

Well I for one can tell you that a cable breaking is the last thing I will worry about. These are not some little Bowden cables. I be you could lift a car with the ones I got.
No I can't find out where I bought them. But Tankerpilot75 had a posting that I got the supplier and part number from.
I just measured the one I have hanging on my wall that goes in my unfinished RV-6.
The plane is gonna break before you break the cable.
OH your mileage may vary Art
