electric carb heat actuator

Has anyone tried using a solenoid to close the carb heat door? Especially on a tandem RV?

I'm running out of patience with routing cables thru the firewall, baggage and into very limited panel space.

RELIABILITY?

.... I would be a bit nervous doing this, as the failure mode could be a disaster
if at the wrong time or place. This coupled with the fact that there could be other
failures (like power out, a short) that can work as a team to make your day a bad
one. When you need carburetor heat, you need it now, and reliably. This said
there isn't many things as dependable as a cable. Thanks, Allan..:D

Control Cables

On my -8 there are no control cables in the panel or through the baggage compartment. I have the alternate air and cabin heat controls mounted on the left gear tower and they run beneath the forward baggage floor.
