Front center baffle, cut off this area?

Hello

Finishing the baffle, now the question, what should I do with the marked areas?

Can I cut these off or are they needed to block the top/bottom half?

Thanks for any input.

Good question

I would like to know that myself. I set a new world record today working on the front baffles and snorkel. I am certain no one has installed and removed a cowling more times than I did today.

Trim, but trim wisely

Those marked sections don't do anything to separate the high and low pressure areas in the cowling. They just uselessly hang there inside the low pressure area.

So I trimmed them back, although for structural reasons I didn't remove all of the material that you marked. I left a little bit of material in triangular sections that still contribute to the structural integrity of the baffling. It's not so much that they're acting as gussets per se (although they do add a little rigidity), but that by leaving that material there I prevented the creation of stressed inside corners that could initiate cracks.

Will cut a bit ...

Thanks for your answers!

Ok, I will cut a bit off, make big radius and fine it is.
