RV-8 and the Wintery Chewelah Trip

Saturday 11/12/22 turned out to be a very nice day up here. Clear, calm, not too cold, so we decided to take a longer than normal trip (only about 180 miles, not that much longer than usual). It was fun and a little challenging finding and landing at a place I had never been to before in a region I had never visited before. The airport was in very good condition and the food at the golf course was really good to.

I feel like I should pay for viewing that amazing video and music. All my stress is gone.

Where was your camera mounted/ camera mount and which Go Pro (or other camera) did you use?

Great video! Great day for flying The Peaks! (One has to choose the days....!) Shows not only the great views but also the value of the RV series of airplanes as Traveling Machines! Nicely done. Love the music overdub as well! Great choices!

Beautifully done. I will treat the family tonight to a screen-share after dinner.

That terrain is stunning, but has to be among the most un-landable on the planet if the fan stopped. How would you even hope to survive setting it down in that granite without a CAPS? You have to have a lot of faith in Lycoming, I guess.

Thanks for sharing!

That is very true. The absolute worst part only takes about 25 minutes to clear, so for that 25 minutes the senses are very much heightened. The fact is, however, that most of the places I fly around here there are no good landing options if the fan goes quiet. I do the best I can to stay near something landable and just rely on the engine to keep running, and yes, I do try to take very good care of the power plant. Hey, it's been running for 21 years and almost 2,300 hrs, it's got to be broken in by now.

The camera is mounted under the left wing using two screws that hold the wing tip on. It is mounted to a PlaneAround mount, and I'm using a GoPro Hero 10 Black.
