GNX375 and hidden GA35

I'm planning on installing a GNX375 shortly and trying to avoid an external GPS antenna. I'd like to "hide" the GA35 under the cowl just forward of the firewall and wanted to hear pro/cons or experiences from others before me. I don't want to block it with metal structure or paint with metallic paints (in the future) but wondering if reception is impacted by the fiberglass (why does Cirrus mount them all externally, very ugly IMHO?)?

Appreciate the feedback or install pictures appreciated.

I think using the search tools will reveal a previously discussed subject... at length.

Nevertheless, my take is that if you'll be using your GNX375 for VFR only, go ahead.
I installed mine for eventual IFR/IMC approaches, and sure don't wanna bet my life just to have the antenna hidden. Since this is my only Navaid, the antenna enjoys the fresh air ;)
