If this Hangar could talk there woukd be plenty to hear. Rv's are small but the size of this place makes it look like a toy sitting there. Another night here and weather should be better tomorrow. On my way back to KBVS from KSOW.

KENV? Those hangars were build for slightly larger aircraft. A fair bit of history out there for such a little nothin' of an airport. Also, it's cheesy, but don't forget to take a look inside that C-123 by the FBO. It's a famous movie prop, you know.

The size of the hangar, the wood construction and history of this airport was more fascinating to me than anything else in town. I bet you could get 100 Rv’s in one of these hangars.

Those hangars are where the B-29 Enola Gay was based for training. There is a wall, usually covered, where the crew members signed their names before THAT mission, an act that at the time was against the rules because of how top secret the mission was and possibility they wouldn't return.

I, too, was weathered in at Wendover for 2-3 days about 16 years ago. I was helping a new 70 hour pilot fly a Cherokee 180 from KFNL to Cameron Park near Sacramento. We were socked in by low clouds to the west with decent weather at Wendover itself. We ended up flying locally each day to get him more comfortable in the Cherokee and it was really cool to soak up the local history. The good news was that hotel rooms were pretty cheap because of the casinos. One of those flying adventures I'll probably never forget.

Enola Gay Hangar

We “Rocky Mountain Renegades” were supposed to fly with the West Coast Ravens in their airshow a couple years ago. A few of us hangared in the Enola Gay hangar. A forecast early winter storm forced a cancellation of the airshow.
( big disappointment)

We did sub for the Ravens in 2014 at Wendover.

Wife and I were returning to Indianapolis after the Reno Air Races and stopped at Wendover. Coming from the west, because of terrain, you need to quickly lose 5000 feet to land.

I called on 122.8 and did a upwind entry for left traffic, turning final the wife said you're landing at an Air Force Base. There was mostly vintage fighters on the ramp and one F16, guarded by gun wielding military guards ( the only real active military plane there). The line crew assured the wife Wendover was no longer an active air base.

Seems the F16 had made an emergency landing there, while streaming flaming parts out the rear; they had to tow him off of the runway. The line crew said that happened once or twice a month!

Pretty nice little museum

On the field at Wendover. IIRC it’s by a big tower like thing by the fuel pumps. I stayed at the Pepper Mill hotel casino couple times very reasonable rates and nice clean place.
