ive tried repairing my nose wheel spat on a RV7A

it keeps delaminating

what is the best material to use for repairs?

dan said it best, but you really need to know what materials you are working with. the RV-7 parts should be epoxy, the older stuff was polyester. epoxy will bond to both, polyester will not bond to epoxy. so if you are trying to repair an epoxy piece with polyester, even with the best techniques, you will not get a bond that will last.

David,

Its all about the preparation, rough up everything that might see resin with 60 grit sand paper. Buy West epoxy from East Coast Fibreglass and some 200g/m^2 glass cloth (2x2 twill is best) and lay up some layers. Put on more than you need and grind back with a sanding disc in an electric drill. If you're still having problems ask your inspector or your local glider repairer.

Epoxy will stick to polyester and epoxy if sanded first, but polyester will not stick to epoxy. If unsure of base material, use epoxy.
