Santa Fe and Monument Valley

We had a really nice trip this week to Santa Fe, NM. We spent 3 nights there and saw all of the sights, and also drove up to Taos. On the way back to SoCal we did a night in Monument Valley, UT. Also did a Grand Canyon overflight on the way home. Great weather all week, and smooth flying as long as you are down and done by noon.

Lots of photos to look at here.

These are amazing machines for traveling! What would have taken us 2 long days of driving can be covered in about 4 hours.

Thanks for posting, Bruce,

Brings back memories from years ago of our trip to Santa Fe and Taos (by road, not time machine!).

Looks like a fantastic trip, Bruce. We are departing on an odyssey next week that will take us from Florida to the Pacific NW. One of the places we want to see is Monument Valley. Any tips on the airport, lodge, and tours would be appreciated.

One word. Reservations! The place is always full of bus tour groups. Fax them your insurance info and a hold harmless agreement. The runway is one way to land and take off the other way, with quite a slope. Enjoy the trip!

Great pictures Bruce. We don't see colors or terrain like that in Florida.

On final, be on the lookout for NORDO ultralights taking off opposite direction, usually in the morning.
If you favor an adult beverage, bring your own. It's not sold on the Navajo reservation.
Next to the hotel is the restaurant, gift shop, and the Gouldings movie museum. There are half day and full day (with lunch) tours of the rock formations.

Beautiful Pictures Bruce

Thanks for sharing. This is one trip I must make.

Regards,

Fernando

Bruce,

Your picture of the Dynon screen in photo 298 shows the oil pressure at 47 psi. Isn't that a little low for a normal operating pressure?

Good question. What's the norm for an O-320? I thought it was around 50 PSI.
