Quirky Things Seen From The Air in Your RV
I’ll start the thread with two, yes two, 70’s-80’s era McDonaldland Mayor McCheese playground hamburgers in people’s front yards. Less than five miles apart.
What is a Mayor McCheese, you ask? It’s this:
The first is on downwind for RWY 35 at my home field (52F). You can see it in GoogleMaps at:
33.046996, -97.238395
The second is 4.16nm heading 339 off the north end of the 52F runway.
33.121037, -97.261926

As soon as I properly define the word "quirky" I'd add to the thread. I might have those things plenty.

Quirky indeed
Culberson County, Texas is sneaky interesting and I have had many adventures there. Several years ago an ag pilot came in the office. I did not know him. He asked if I was the guy who takes pictures. When I told him I do take aerial photos he asked me if I had ever noticed this place.
I had not noticed it but did some research and found that is a unique and interesting site. I was able to pay some money, make a reservation and actually visit. Well worth it to see something entirely crazy and creative.
This week another guy came in the office. He is a young rancher. When I signed the document he brought he said "Oh, are you the guy who takes pictures". Yes; yes I am. It turns out he has taken some Citabria instruction. He asked me about some different Culberson County photos, and said he was only interested in tailwheel airplanes and would like to be able to fly to "the ranch."
Just one more from Culberson County.

NSA Snooping Outpost
disguised as a junk yard.
About 30 miles southeast of Houston.
Bizarre collection of dozens of large and small satellite dishes, boats, cars, travel trailers, and shipping containers.

I'm not sure what you're up to Doug, but PLEASE don't bomb Mayor McCheese.

I don't have any photos but I saw a huge, maybe 12' tall King Fu Panda in a residential yard.

I tend to over post and have probably talked about this place before. It is an artsy-fartsy deal. I usually think first about the upper right (east) building. Steel and rust and oil and broken glass and ball bearings and sweat from using the manual chain hoist.
Photos are not allowed on the tours. Too bad. The Guadalupes through the 12 foot steel doors are something to behold.
The guy also has a feminine persona. He beautifully decorated a children's hospital in El Paso with wall and ceiling murals.
