Default 0320 Vertical Ind FAB

So.. After a few months of this and that, covid, condition insp lapsing, I have finally starting to dig into tweety bird to get condition done. RV6A. I still have not flown her I have taxied around a bit, but not too much. I'm putting 5 point Crow Harness in, Uavonix tailbeacon, and under dash LED re rte. Have questions about the FAB on the carb. Mine has the plate on bottom of K&N filter. So essentially sealed. There was no mods done to the filter to fit the carb. It looks as if it seals nicely. My FAB is in bad shape. BTW there is no alt air source either. Threre is a flapper for carb heat from the exhaust. 1) Is it possible/safe to run the engine sans the FAB ? 2) Would the heat from exhaust degrade performance of engine if I do ? As a non builder, I am completing condition with the help of A&P, but wanted to bounce this off the gallery.

Thanks
JR
