I got the following note from Scott at Van's when I asked them to show what had changed on revisions.

"Drawing changes are classified into two catagories. Change Memos and Change Notices.

Change Memos are minor changes that won't affect the build in any way...ie: spelling changes, wording changes. The 'revision level' of a drawing does not change with a Change Memo.

Change Notices are changes to a drawing that should be noted and updated if a builder has not accomplished that particular step in the drawing. ie: dimension change, rivet callout, etc.
The revision level number of a drawing will change when a Change Notice is released.

Here is how we intend the revision process to work with builders:

If you are past that step in the build process, ignore the drawing change.

If you are not yet to that step, replace the drawing and build to the new drawing.

If a change is important enough that engineering feels that a builder should go back to change the assembly, we'll issue a service bulletin.

regards, scott at van's"
