So the question will be.....can we, the RV-12ers easily upgrade?

"Q: Will there be SkyView Touch upgrades for existing SkyView SV-D1000 customers?
A: Yes! Because the SV-D1000 and SV-D1000T SkyView Touch displays are the same form factor, one is a drop-in replacement for the other. We will have an upgrade path for existing customers for $795. Customers will need to send in their Displays directly to Dynon Avionics for upgrade. Upgrades will not be available upon launch in April, but will follow soon thereafter. Additional details will follow."

Second question...

If the autopilot knob controls have trim setting switches, which implies that they will be able to adjust trim, does that mean we won't have to constantly be chasing the "gimme some up" and "gimme some down" nags while in altitude mode?

From Dynon
If you got your Skyview after March 1 2014, they are only charging you $395 for the upgrade. You need to contact [email protected]

However, they are not ready to take any requests until the units ship.

Yeah...we saw it too. Dynon is about to release a new touch-screen version of their popular SkyView EFIS.

Will it be available for E-LSA and EAB RV-12 customers?

Yes, but not until April 1. On that date, it will appear as a new $395 option on the RV-12 Avionics Kit Order Form.

Those who already have a Skyview may return the unit to Dynon (read that carefully...RETURN THE UNIT TO DYNON) who will upgrade it to the touchscreen version for $795.

New S-LSA RV-12s may also be ordered with the touchscreen Skyview, although the exact price has yet to be determined.

Dynon has also introduced new, separate, dedicated-knob and autopilot control panels to compliment the Skyview, but due to the lead times necessary to incorporate and document their installation, we anticipate that it will be several months before these new panels are available to RV-12 builders or buyers.

Although we are looking forward to trying and flying these new units, Van?s has yet to see, operate or install any of them. Questions about what does it do, why would I want it, how well does it work, etc should be directed to Dynon (read that carefully....DIRECTED TO DYNON).
