Default Garmin Transponder fault

My friend came to visit me and during the flight, his transponder, a Garmin 45R, was not working.* On the ground, it is showing "Transponder Fault '' on G3X right above the squawk*code.* We could change squawk code and he said his ADSB was working fine as he could see traffic.* Power cycling*did not do anything and we checked the wiring at the transponder and all looked to be OK.

Been dealing with this as well. Take it to a garmin shop and have them update the software unless you can do on your own.

Curious to learn more about your situation? Was yours working and all the sudden got the "transponder fault"? And did the software upgrade fixed it?

You may be able to see more detailed status information about what is wrong with your transponder, if you look at the System Information page under Tools-->Diagnostics in the main menu, or in config mode.
