Wow , I actually posted a photo. Now I think I should get my instrument rating! It shouldn't take as long. LOL

Practice day with IAC Chapter 49 April, 2018. Then afterwards my wife and I loaded up the RV and went on our trip to Monterey/ Carmel by the Sea. Acro and adventure all on the same trip with the same plane. :D

Hi Brian,

How did you mount that camera to the airplane - the one behind your right shoulder?

Thanks

Nice pic Brian! Are you flying in the Coalinga contest next week?

Hey Karl, I'm not going to Coalinga. I didn't want to say anything, but I guess I'll let the cat out of the bag now. I bought a Laser 200 and have been working my butt off on it for the past 5 months. I have not had enough time to practice, so I won't be doing any contests until later this year. (I'm still keeping my -4) How's your Extra?

(edit: I see you've been kicking some butt with your Extra! Second place at Borrego and first at Apple Valley. Awesome!! You're going to Coalinga? I'll try to stop by and watch and maybe volunteer if I have time)

Saville, the camera is mounted with a clamp to the roll bar - all using accessories in the GoPro kit. (in my case a GoPro knock-off) I'll take a picture next time I get to the hangar.

My 12iS won't be flying for some time, but this is me in my buddy's RV-8 last August. Second pic is at the top of an aileron roll.

Loving this 7A I bought last Jan. Almost 50 hours on her now! The RV grin is back....

Very easy really

I used the existing holes in the outboard skin/wing tip and made some aluminium mounts to hold the carbon fibre tubes. The 4 mounts are shaped to the curvature of the wing and have the existing tinnerman washers underneath them so they don’t touch the paint. Easily removable. The go pro is controllable from the flight deck. All in all it was a few hours work.

"Selfie" over Glen Canyon Dam

This was from our trip last month to Page, Marble Canyon, Monument Valley, Escalante, and a few other places in Utah and Arizona. We never get tired of the American Southwest!

Photo is a screen shot from Insta360, mounted on a carbon fiber pole (Amazon) and aluminum bracket I fabricated that attaches to where the wingtip mounts to the wing.
