Along with some friends, we took the RV-8 and and RV-6 from Wiltshire in the south west UK, to Glenforsa Airfield in Scotland for their fly-in on Saturday. 700nm round trip not big by US standards, but it's covering a lot of ground here!

Chicago lakeshore
Took advantage of the beautiful weather last night to cruise the Chicago lakeshore with my bride. Shout out to Paul McVitty at Flyleds...upgrading my lights was instrumental to safely flying (landing) this wonderful bird at night.

Stopped at the fuel pumps yesterday at my home airport to top off after a short lunch flight with a buddy in our RV-8s, and found another whopping price increase putting the price of 100LL at $7.640/gallon.
Those that are building or buying should not underestimate the cost of operating their new RV. And the replacements for 100LL will probably be more expensive.

Fontana Dam, NC water release
The flood gates release water from the bottom of the dam where it goes up a ramp about 100 feet up and 400 feet out.

Yesterday, I flew (at altitude) a set of low speed spirals with different control inputs, then took the recorded flight data, messed with it to make it look like they were flown at low altitude at Oshkosh, played them through CloudAhoy and recorded the video for presentation at the Pilot Proficiency Center Monday and Friday afternoons at AirVenture.
This was actually the second time I flew a data collection flight. If I were to do it a third time, I could make lots of things simpler, but hey! it's done and really conveys how hazardous low speed spirals can be.
Come check it out at the Pilot Proficiency Center.
