Sticky squeeze

riobison

Well Known Member
I have a avery pneumatic squeezer that for the most part seems to work well except that to initially initiate the squeeze it is difficult to start the squeeze smoothly.

It take a good pull with my finger to get it moving and in the process its jerky and throws the dies off center. Once I overcome that initial resistance its smooth.

Any ideas on what's causing it and suggestions to remedy it?

My air pressure is set at 80 psi

Thanks

Tim

Fixed the Avery Squeeze

Found the problem. Started the disassembly when I noticed that the flapper that activates the plunger for the air had moved 2 or 3mm and was rubbing on a brass block and the friction I was feeling was the flapper coming over center. I loosened the allan screw to adjust the flapper, adjusted it, tightened it up and it was perfect. Nice and smooth..................

I bought this used and when I look at the wear, it appears that it has been like this for a long time.
